Excited that a project I worked on back in 2021 has finally been completed! The brief for the interior foyer of this large apartment building in Sydney’s Manly was to make the mitigate the cold, institutional impression of the foyer and also the apparent length of the foyer plus enhance the architectural details of the foyer and create a more cohesive overall impression while retaining the existing furniture and floorcoverings. I’ve been informed that the clients and residents love the new color scheme and believe that it met the brief.
Marginally warmer tones were used for the foyer and a deep blue was specified for the side wall bench that ran the ran the length of the foyer. A trompe l’oeil marble effect (mimicking Calacutta Gold) was specified for the wall columns to give these a distinctive look. Calacutta Gold is an off-white marble with soft grey and subtle gold flecks – colors that link to the existing marble floor tiles and grey tones that occur elsewhere including the exterior façade colours.
The project was commissioned in 2020 and involved developing a new color scheme for the exterior of a large, two-building apartment complex in the Sydney suburb of Manly as well as a color scheme for the foyer. The exterior was completed in 2022 with the delay occuring due to various building works that need to be done before exterior painting.
