The Colour Society of Australia held its annual Colour Conference in Melbourne, 7-9 September 2018.
I presented a paper: ‘Colour/contrast Interventions to Improve Environmental Visual Literacy’. This paper discussed the use of evidence-based colour strategies that incorporated supergraphics. The hypothesis focused on colour/contrast interventions may have positive impacts on pedestrian safety and traffic calming.
The colour conference included a packed schedule. Presenters included David Coles, author of Chromotopia and Sonia van de Haar of Lymesmith @lymesmithy. In addition, Assoc Prof Daryl Guest and Dr John Parkes, Dr Paul Green-Armytage and Dr Barry Maund presented papers. Plus, architect Greg Burgess, Lisa Howard of TCL Landscape Architects and Sabine Amoore Pinon also presented.
At the colour conference in Melbourne, my presentation included a nominal group consensus survey of colour/contrast supergraphic interventions. A 2nd iteration of this survey was conducted at the AIC-2018 conference in Lisbon, 25-29 September 2018. AIC-2018 is the annual conference of the International Colour Association and more information about the conference is available here.
The following images feature colour/contrast supergraphic interventions overseas.
